Carbon Reduction Plan.
Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Hanson Grey Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. This CRP conforms to PPN 06/21.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Current Emissions Reporting
Emission Reduction Targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero set target, we've established the following carbon reduction targets. Our projection indicates a decrease in carbon emissions over the next five years, to 1130tCO2e by 2028, reflecting a reduction of approximately 31%. We have committed to reaching Net Zero ahead of 2050 and have submitted a target to reach Net Zero by 2050.
Progress against this target can be seen in the graph below.
Carbon Reduction Projects
1. Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since 2021 baseline. The carbon emission reduction we hope to achieve by these schemes equate to 1130tCO2e, a 31% reduction against the 2021 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.
a. Energy Efficiency Initiatives:
Our lights and other appliances have been upgraded to energy-efficient appliances and HVAC systems. We conduct energy audits to identify and address areas of inefficiency.
b. Waste Reduction and Recycling:
We have established a comprehensive waste management program to reduce, re-use, and recycle. Also, we encourage employees to minimise paper usage and implement digital documentation systems.
2. Planned Carbon Reduction Initiatives
In future, we hope to implement further measures which will continue to drive down emissions. We are considering several initiatives and those listed below are some examples of areas we are considering;
a. Collaboration and Advocacy:
We plan to partner with industry associations and participate in environmental initiatives and advocate for sustainable policies and practices within the business community and beyond.
b. Transportation Strategies:
We are considering reducing business travel by air, rail and road through effective measurement and a sustainable travel policy. Encourage our workforce to transition to electric or hybrid electric cars. Provide incentives for the use of public transportation.
c. Employee Engagement and Education:
We plan to raise awareness among our workforce about the impact of their decisions on our path to Net Zero through company-wide engagement sessions and educational programs focusing on carbon literacy.
d. Sustainable Procurement:
We currently source products and materials from environmentally responsible suppliers. We want to work with suppliers to understand their own emissions. Educate and encourage them to set their own carbon reductions targets in line with the science.
e. Transparently report on our environmental metrics both internally and externally.
